I always have.
I hated it when I was a child & now that I have my own child, I still hate it!!!
So it was with a very sad face that I set my alarm last night to make sure that I woke up in time to do the regular chaotic prepartion that is a regular school morning.
However, I am not here to complain about the day that was inevitably going to come regardless of how much I dreaded it!
I'm here to share with you What-I-Ate-Wednesday!
Thanks again to Jenn from the peasandcrayons blog for being such a fantastic host! Add your link to join in the fun :-)
Breakfast was polenta porridge with berries:
My daughter informed me this morning that this was her "favourite breakfast". I was quite surprised by this remark because I'm sure I haven't been told that before! Not to mention that it isn't particularly a regular in our home. Then again, kids say anything is their favourite if they are enjoying it at the time. Isn't that right?!?!? ;-)
Of course there's always my morning coffee (though I don't usually take a picture of it!).
It tastes better out of a Jemima Puddle Duck mug you know ;-)
Lunch was a wrap with leftover lentil bolognese & lettuce.....
.......accompanied by a brown rice salad with spinach.
My husband often jokes about my 2nd, 3rd or 4th lunch! ;-) Today there was only 2 lunches! In the afternoon I put my juicer to work on celery, kale & apples.
For dinner I had spaghetti with aduki bean & veg bolognese..... and totally forgot to take a picture! ~shame~
I even had the camera sitting right next to my cooking area!
And last but definitely not least was the delicious dessert that I shared with my hubbie - waffles with chocolate banana soft serve!
Proof that even days that start out bad can have a good ending!
I'm sorry you hate school. I have to say some subjects weren't my favourite and I may have snuck out of a fair few in my time but learning has always been fun!
ReplyDeleteI think I have my work cut out for me in convincing my students that class can be fun :)
Your food looks divine and that dessert is a stunner! but then knowing my love for fruit 'ice cream' how can you go wrong!xxx
Warms my heart to know that you are one of the teachers who actually cares about making education fun! GOOD ON YOU!!!!
DeleteYes me and fruit ice-cream are very close friend too ;-)
I hated school all the way up through college. Then I LOVED school. Probably because I got to choose what I studied. Up until then I dreaded school. Looks like you had a really great food day but OMG the waffle with Chocolate Banana Soft Serve?! Waffles with ice cream is actually one of my favorite indulges and yours looks really yummy and decadent! Don't you love that juicer?! I have the same one and it is so powerful. LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm quite happy with the juicer considering the cost!
DeleteTrue - I think I'd have a very different approach if I went back and studied something I want to!
OMG those waffles look sooo good!
ReplyDeleteAnd do you love your juicer? I've been thinking about getting one, but im not so sure!
I also am still not a fan of school, can't wait for it all to be over with!!!!!!
Glad your day ended better than it started :)
Happy with the juicer considering the cost! I'm going to do a review of it soon.
DeleteHope you can endure your education til it finishes without too much pain!!!!!
Your eats look yummy. I have to say that polenta was always a special "weekend breakfast" in our home growing up, and we never ate it sweet. I think this is the first time I've ever seen berries on top of polenta. Awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it sweet! It really brings out its flavour I think! You should give it a try :-)
DeleteWaffles + chocolate soft serve.. um, what a PERFECT way to end the day :)
ReplyDeleteIt sure was!!!
DeleteHope you've had a great week :-)
I have never thought about eating my left overs in a wrap, but what a great idea. Did you warm it up or eat it cold? I was never fond of school as I wasn't a great student.
ReplyDeleteI warm up my leftovers when they go on a wrap - very regular lunch meal for me :-)
DeleteI always hated the adjustment that going back to school brought, particularly after the summer holidays when non-school time just felt so right!, but did love the structure and routine and sometimes miss the simplicity of it :P I have to remind myself that when I was there, it felt anything but simple!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous food as always!
Oh yes sooooo true! I remember thinking how hard everything was in high school...... if only I knew how easy it really was ;-)
DeleteI don't mind school, but it's the morning routine that gets to me. Alarm setting, getting up in the dark, packing sandwiches, the same routine day in day out for 5 days a week can be a bit of a drag. Saying that, the week's are flying past scarily quick. Here in the UK, next week is already half term (a week off)! It only seems like yesterday that it was Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLove all your food by the way. If you keep tempting me with those waffle photos I might just have to go and by myself a waffle maker ;)
Yes yes yes - get a waffle maker!!! I swear you won't regret it!
DeleteYep I hear you about the routine feeling like a bit of a drag! I must say I'm very impressed with our effort so far this year we have made the bus everyday so far (which means we haven't run late at all yet!).
