Apple Wonton Fold-overs

When I was younger we used to make apple fold-overs that we called "treats for Daddy". I still make "treats for daddy" but now with my daughter and also without thick pastry.

These are a super easy and delicious treat.
Great for when visitors pop over or for a quick dessert.
They are very quick to make.

You'll need:
wonton wrappers
pie apples (either store bought or home made)
plant milk of choice
Optional: whipped coconut cream for dipping

Lay wontons out on a bench.
Place a few pieces of pie apples on one half of the wonton wrapper. Add a few sultanas in each wonton and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Fold over to make a triangle shape and press the edges together firmly.
Place on a lined baking tray and brush the tops of the wontons with plant milk.
Place in a preheated 200C oven for 10-15minutes until lightly golden brown.

Question of the day:
Did you have a childhood treat that you still make now but in a different way?

  1. I am on my way:)) they look so yummy. I would never had thought of using wonton wraps, I will need to buy some.

    1. lol - welcome any time ;-)
We love using wontons are a pastry alternative.

  2. I would never have thought of this. Impressive!

  3. What brand of wonton wrappers are vegan? I always see eggs in them. Thanks!

    1. We buy the square ones that are in the fridge section - they are quite small. A white packet with Chinese symbols on the front :-) Definitely no egg. I have noticed that some other varieties do have egg - especially ones in the freezer.
A local Asian grocery store may also offer more variety :-)

  4. [ Smiles ] This is the first time that I have heard of apple wonton folders; thank you for sharing this recipe.

When I was a kid, I loved macaroni and cheese; I now use the vegan alternative!

    1. I always love to hear when others still eat their favourites but just veganise them :-) Thanks for sharing!

  5. brilliant dessert idea - and yours are so crispy - I don't have that much faith in my oven but I do want to eat these

    1. The wontons are quite thin so they should be crispy - see how you go :-)

  6. These sound utterly delicious! I used to love apple turnovers as a kid, but I don't think I've had one since. From your instructions, they sound pretty easy to make. I've never bought wonton wrappers before. I'll check out the supermarket this weekend & see if they stock them (fingers crossed!) xx

    1. They sure are really easy - and much less fiddly than pastry. Hope you can find them :-) xxx
